Context Layer source and evidence

Maggie Lerman authored Context Layer. Its lineage is now documented from the October 2025 Family Shapes project structure through the February docs-system-scaffold, lifecycle and dashboard extensions, the broader Product Operating System Scaffold and the May 13 Context Layer packaging conversation. The May 15 Git snapshot is package evidence, not the original conception date.

Operating rules

Canonical project Markdown carries decisions, lifecycle, evidence and timestamped checkpoints. A generated HTML dashboard makes it inspectable. Human review and MAGGIE TODO follow-ups remain distinct from implementation. Historical variants had different defaults: the earlier scaffold could preserve lowercase docs and omit the dashboard; the named plugin standardized DOCS and required the dashboard.

Examples and limits

Family Shapes supplies the original structure. Shopify Headless supplies the review/blocker distinction. Maggie Todo adapts the pattern for human follow-ups. Frill demonstrates a sixteen-project handoff reconciliation, including the drift the audit had to correct. The portfolio illustrates the cost of missing continuity in the active redesign checkout; an earlier lightweight install in a different worktree is recorded explicitly.

The four gallery screenshots remain real views of the October 11 portfolio installation: lifecycle overview, human follow-ups, tracks and the five-project register. They are not screenshots of Family Shapes, Frill or the other installations. The examples demonstrate inspectable records and concrete workflows, not quantified productivity gains.
